We had canned pears for dinner tonight. It made me think of when my mom used to put pears in lime Jello-O. We had Jell-O as a part of dinner at least once a week. Never plain, always with fruit in it. Cherry with fruit-cocktail, strawberry with bananas, orange with…mandarin oranges. Did you ever pull out the leftover Jell-O a few days later and it was runny? We had a special Jell-O dish that my mom always made it in. And then we’d put plastic wrap on the top of the dish and put it in the fridge to enjoy delicious Jell-O all week!
Does anyone still make Jell-O, besides the cafeterial style restaurants that only senior citizens go to? Is Jell-O disappearing from dinner tables across America?ÂÂ

Hmmm, count as in, college campuses may be the one other place where Jell-O still appears with great frequency? Yes. But I’m talking dinner table, so unless you are slammin or slurpin Jell-O shots for dinner, I’m going to have to say no.

We definitly have jell-o in the cabinet. How much we eat it is debatable.

Mmmm…doesn’t it bring out the kid in you again? My munchkins love Jell-O. We should have it more often. Personally, I enjoy Jell-O jigglers, or better yet, Jell-O pudding pops. Remember when Bill Cosby did commercials for those? You can still get them, but only at select grocery stores - they’re hard to find.

Unfortunately, I married a man that doesn’t like fruit in his jell-o, and since I was raised on fruit in my jell-o, I can’t have it plain! So, we just do without most of the time. Worse yet, I can get him to eat the orange with mandarin oranges or the green with pear, but my favorite…strawberry with banana…is COMPLETELY out!! So…a fix? I will raise our children on fruit in their jell-o, then he will be the odd man out and I will have someone to share my strawberry jell-o with bananas with!!
